Enthused by a suitcase?
We’ve just got back from Warrington where we met Mara on the Youth Alpha Tour; she shares her story...
“I landed in Warrington about 15 months ago, having travelled and worked in New South Wales, Australia. I came back to the UK to be near family after the death of my daughter, and honestly, was struggling with the adjustments to the shattering changes in my life and the way this affected my faith.
I had my faith in God during this dark time, and His grace has helped me grow and be thankful for all the blessings I still have in my life.
A friend asked if I’d take them to Oasis since I had a car – they wanted to check out what it was like. The Oasis family fairly quickly got me involved in activities, particularly with Chat and Chill (run with Warrington Youth for Christ) and weekly life group meetings.
I have a desire to share the joy and strength that God is in my life, with children and young adults, and enjoy finding creative ways to encourage conversations about God.
A couple of friends from church told me about the Youth Alpha Tour event in Warrington, and so I signed up hoping to be encouraged....
I feel freshly enthused to carry on with the youth work we already do, and got ideas for ways to reach the youth we have not yet connected with. It was great to see Sarah's presentation ‘Youth Alpha in a Suitcase’ which was perfectly pitched and really informative. The links to resources will be invaluable, and the networking at events such as these was fantastic.
I am inspired by the work that is going on in the Warrington area to reach out to the youth of the town, who are so desperately seeking something to make sense of their lives.
It is such a privilege to be able to spend time with the children and young adults I meet, and I often end up learning things about myself too.”
It was a real privilege for us too! We loved sharing time with guys from Warrington – we’re always blown away by the passion, enthusiasm and love that those we meet have for sharing the good news of Jesus with young people.
We’re packing our suitcase again and now looking forward to Norwich this weekend – book on if you’re nearby, it would be great to meet you.
