HAND-O-NARY (YOUTH ALPHA GAMES)
Yes, we made up the name......
You will need:
A group of people.
Pens with washable ink, or straws (for the non messy version)
A list of simple drawings e.g. house, car, dog, ice cream etc. Pre draw a simple version of each of these so you have something to refer to and to show everyone at the end of each round what the original picture looked like.
A flip chart/bigger bit of paper and pen
How it works:
Everyone sits in a line and turns their face away from the person to their left.
The flip chart/paper and pen are placed next to the person on the far right of the line.
The leader starts at the far left hand side of the line, and draws with a pen (or traces with a straw) on the back of the left hand of the first person one of the pictures.
The person whose hand is being drawn on must not see what is being drawn or look at it after it is finished.
Once the drawing is finished, then it is the turn of the person whose hand was drawn on, to reproduce that drawing on the next person’s hand, from memory, of what they felt being drawn on their hand. They must try and replicate it as closely as possible to what was drawn on them.
Then the next person draws on the left hand of the next one, and so on.
At no point can anyone refer to what was drawn on their hand by looking.
At the end, the final person must draw the drawing that they feel drawn on their hand on the paper. Then everyone can refer to their hands, the final drawing and the original drawing to see what has happened.
To add an element of competition, you could have two teams doing the same picture, and award points for speed and accuracy for each round.
