October's Adviser of the Month
"Tony Blair almost ran me over...”
Dotted around the country, we have a number of wonderful people called ‘Youth Alpha Advisers'. These Youth Alpha champions are here to help YOU. We want you to get to know these legends; our 'Adviser of the Month' blogs have been going for a year now! They’re here to give you a chance to find out more about our voluntary team of superstars across the UK.
So please welcome our Adviser of the Month for October... (drum roll please) ... Frazer Brown. Frazer’s a youth worker at Southside Christian Fellowship up in Ayr, Scotland and gets to ‘hang out with a great bunch of young people’.
Age: 22
Frazer, what’s your favourite hot drink?
Emm… hot chocolate, especially with marshmallows, chocolate flakes BUT no cream (surely cream’s the best bit?!).
Have you always been a Christian?
I became a Christian when I was ten after speaking to my mum about a drama I had seen at church.
If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?
I would like to fly… wings would be a bonus.
What was the last film that you saw?
Toy Story… best trilogy ever!
What would be your ultimate pet be?
I’d like to have one of those boxes of fish that nibble your dead skin… (wierd or what?!).
What cartoon character best describes you?
I don’t really know any cartoon characters… maybe Dennis the Menace.
Beach, countryside or city?!
I live right next to the beach… but a combo of all 3 would be ideal.
What’s your favourite food?
I like cheesecake… in fact I like cheese too.
If you were a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream flavour, what would you be and why?
Phish food… cause I’m full of all these amazing things, and it’s my favourite.
Would you rather own a castle or a yacht?
A castle that could float? (Genius idea!).
Have you ever met a famous person?
Tony Blair once almost ran me over.
If you knew you could try anything and not fail, what dream would you attempt?
To become an international pop star.
If you could be given ANY gift what would it be?
Donkey – to ride around town in.
If you could make any inanimate object alive, what would it be?
My monkey from Gogo Olive (a Zimbabwe charity), because an inspirational person gave me it.
Have you ever milked a cow or goat?
Nope but I helped my friend out on a beef farm… I was really good at it.
Best game?
Skittle game – everyone chooses a colour of skittle and each one is a different challenge, like do star jumps, hug someone, tell a joke...
Why are you so passionate about Youth Alpha and training others to run it?
I think Youth Alpha is a great way for people to weigh up what they really believe about God. It is a great chance to get to know people better and for people in and out of the church to get together.
What’s your highlight when it comes to being a Youth Alpha Adviser?
I went to Denmark with some of the Alpha Scotland team and we got to run a Youth Alpha course in a week with around 300 Danes! They were able to meet God in new ways and we got to hang out with them (and a cheeky Legoland trip).
What’s the best thing about running Youth Alpha for you?
People challenging what they believe.
Anything else that you’d like to add or say?
Youth Alpha is pretty decent, give it a go!
Frazer’s really experienced when it comes to Youth Alpha, so if you’re in Scotland and you’ve got any questions or would like some help with your course – get in touch with him! Find him on the map by clicking here. Not in Scotland? Then check out who your closest Youth Alpha Adviser is here.
