Youth Alpha

From the outset we handed ALL responsibility to our year 12’s (age 16/17)...

...to pull off the Youth Alpha course at our church, Holy Trinity Brompton.

So for the past 8 weeks, this meant they did the talks, bought the krispy kremes, decorated the room, led the prayer meetings, and led the worship. They were the techies, the prayers, the hosts, the DJ’s, the roadies and of course… the inviters!! A youth pastors dream! AND they absolutely nailed it.

I won’t lie, I was nervous... ‘Will anyone come?’..... BUT come they did. We had a great sized group that came along week after week. Our Youth Alpha course wasn’t super polished; in fact it was raw, riddled with mistakes, filled with awkward silences, many a terrible joke was told and many dubious YouTube clips were shown… AND IT WAS AWESOME!! And by the end of the course it was a great community to be a part of…

Truth be told, this was one of the best and most exciting things that I’ve been a part of as a youth pastor… Will we do it again? Absolutely!
